Six total events: four championship events and two majors.
The regular season rewards consistency while allowing flexibility — players may miss one of the first three events, as only the best 2 of the first 3 count toward league standings.
The New Jersey State Championship serves as the regular-season finale and is mandatory to win the league, ensuring the champion is decided on the course.
Two standalone majors — The Hoboken Open and The VP Cup — add prestige, rivalry, and tradition without impacting league standings.

2026 FULL FORMAT DETAILS

Tournament Structure:
Overview of the 2026 Hoboken Golf League event layout and purpose of each event.
- 6 total events throughout the season.
- Events 1–3: Regular season events using mixed team formats (teams of 2, teams of 4, team vs team).
- Event 4: New Jersey State Championship — Regular Season Finale.
  Event 5: The Hoboken Open (Major #1).
- Event 6: The VP Cup (Major #2).
Regular Season Events (Events 1–3):
Designed to build league standings while keeping flexibility and parity.
- Players earn points at each event as usual.
- Only the best 2 of the first 3 events count toward league standings.
- Allows one missed event or one off-day without eliminating a player.
- Prevents early runaway leaders and keeps standings tight.
Regular Season Finale – NJ State Championship (Event 4):
Championship-style event intended to decide the league on the course.
- Individual net stroke play.
- Mandatory to be eligible to win the league.
- Finale points are added to the best 2 regular-season scores.
- Ensures the league champion is decided by individual performance under pressure.
League Champion Formula:
How the league champion is determined.
- League Total = (Best 2 of Events 1–3) + (Finale Points).
- Balances season-long consistency with championship-day performance.
Eligibility Rule:
Clarifies eligibility requirements for winning the league.
- Players who do not participate in the finale may still appear in standings.
- Players who miss the finale are ineligible to win the league.
- League Champion is the highest total among players who played the finale.
The Hoboken Open – Major #1:
Prestige major event focused on tradition and legacy.
- Team-based event with 4-person teams.
- Individual champion crowned.
- Team winners were also recognized.
- Does not count toward league standings.
The VP Cup – Major #2:
Rivalry-based major with a different competitive feel.
- Team event with VPs as captains (example: Will vs Johnny).
- Teams drafted throughout the season.
- Format options:
  - 1 VP vs 1 VP (single draft).
  - 2 VPs vs 2 VPs.
- No handicap.
- Money, pride, and rivalry-driven.
- Does not count toward league standings.
